New Year's celebrations!

We rang in the new year with our good friends Crystal and Ashley, and the rest of their gang. Her partner Mike was also there, with his kids/parents/sister and brother-in-law and neice. We had such an awesome time with them and stayed up way too late!!

We started celebrating with dinner at Rosie's in Kentville. A couple of cosmo's and some yummy dinner, topped off by Irish Cream cheesecake....delicious! All the kids enjoyed themselves too and each other's company.

The snowflakes were starting to fly when we were driving home but we went on to the celebrations at the arena in Kingston anyway. There was facepainting and music, cider and cocoa, and wagon rides. We ran into lots of familiar faces....just a reminder for me that school is only a few days away :P

The snow was coming down pretty good at this point but the kids realllly wanted to see the fireworks first. So we hung around the Superstore parking lot while we waited for them to start. Logan was asleep about two seconds after we parked the car!! We tried waking him up to see the show but he would not budge .

After the fireworks were done, we went back to Crystal's to continue our festivities. The amount of food and munchies was insane!! I made up a big pot of chili, and we had just about everything else you could imagine. Crystal had set up a little party area downstairs for the kids, with air hockey, our Wii, lots of treats and music. I brought the party hats and noise makers.

While the kids partied downstairs (and yes, Logan woke up when we got there and he was good for a few more hours!) we stayed upstairs and played Rockband and ate way too much food. Apparently, Darryl isn't too bad on the guitar once you get him on the go! Me on the drums however, that is a different story!

It was a great way to spend the evening, and it was so nice to be with good friends when midnight came. Lots of laughs and hugs and all that good stuff. The kids all joined us in time for the countdown, which we did with Rawlin's Cross and every other crazy person at the Grand Parade in Halifax! As Mike gets ready to go back to Afghanistan, I can't help but wonder what the new year will bring for all of us, and the rest of the world. Hopefully a year of peace and new hope.....
