In Remembrance....

Gently falling rain, falling from the sky

Streaming down like tear drops, tear drops from on high.

Clouds, oh won't you tell us what those tears are for?

Do you weep for something, something we've ignored?

Could it be that from your lofty post so high above,

You have seen how little we have given of our love?

Do you see the lonely, weary, troubled and the poor?

Have you seen the fighting and the war?

Clouds, there must be some way to make your crying cease.

Share with us the secret of happiness and peace.

Do you mean to say that each of us can play a part?

With each spark of love we light, a flame of love may start.

Reaching all around us, giving hope to those we know,

This, you say, will help true peace to grow?

Clouds, though you are parting, your point you've made quite clear,

Peace will never happen, unless we start it here.

Yesterday, Cailyn and Logan's school had their Remembrance Day ceremony. It was a very nice ceremony, complete with singing and music and presentations by representatives from each classroom. Each class made their own wreath or poster to lay in honor of those who have served. It was very touching to see all the artwork and the obvious pride in the task. It was a bit disappointing to see less than 20 parents attend the ceremony, when you compare it to the large numbers at our last school! But it was still a nice ceremony. There was a bugler who played the Last Post, a tune that always brings tears to my eyes and a huge lump to my throat, and a powerpoint of local heroes-the 55 Holy Cross parents who serve in the military. Darryl's picture was included. It is moments like this that makes me so proud to be the wife of a military member. And even though they may not say it, I think the kids probably are too :)
