First Reconciliation

As if my girl isn't growing up fast enough already, this past Thursday she reached another milestone in her life. She did her First Reconciliation, or in other words, her first confession. The kids have grown up going to church and it is an important part of our lives. Both of them have embraced it wholeheartedly. She even serves every weekend. This time though, she was a bit nervous. She wasn't looking forward to having to sit down with Father Jim and tell him about all the naughty things she has done. I spent a great deal of time trying to reassure her that she hasn't done anything that other kids wouldn't be confessing to either, and that he has heard much worse ;) And Father Jim is such a laid back guy, that it would be just like having a conversation with him. Besides, I said, Father Jim has sinned too....he likes the Toronto Maple Leafs :P
Well, she wasn't really convinced, lol, and she spent a lot of time pacing outside the confessional while awaiting her turn. But after it was all done, she admitted it was much easier than she had thought and that Father Jim was definitely the right guy to confess to. She even told him about pushing Logan off a snowball a few weeks ago!
I am very proud of the young woman she is growing into and I hope that she continues to grow in her faith.
