Wow! The end of another decade. Time for new hopes, new starts and new memories :)
We enjoyed our day and night together. In the afternoon, we went for a nice wintry walk at the local provincial park. It was cool and crisp, but it was peaceful....until the kids discovered how much fun it is to knock piles of snow off the branches of the trees, lol. Made for some great photo moments though and we all shared lots of laughs. On our way home, just outside the park entrance, we were excited to see three mule deer feeding on the side of a hill. They didn't seem bothered by the company but we didn't stay long. We were anxious to get home and start our celebrating!
When we got home, the kids had hot chocolate to warm up, and we watched Donkey X. While that was going on, I got all the munchies and food on the go. We decorated the table and had noisemakers and bling to make things festive. We spent the evening playing the wii, eating, and playing charades, the Canadian version. Darryl does a great impersonation of a Beaver tail ;P
Just before 8:30 our time, we turned the tv over to the Newfoundland channel. We watched Newfoundlanders ring in the new year and thought of all our family there. At 9:00 our time, we went outside and lit sparklers, in honor of all our loved ones in NS who were welcoming in the new year three hours before us.
We continued the festivities until it finally struck 12 here. We went outside again and lit some more sparklers before heading off to bed, tired but happy.
We know that there have been definitely a lot of ups and downs this past year, but we know that we have also had a wealth of blessings. We have so many things to be thankful for. So many special people that make our life a lot more rich. My wish for the new year is that we will continue to have many more new adventures and that we won't forget all that we have, even when our days seem cloudy.
