Day 3-more Jasper!

We woke up to the sun shining in the windows and the chirping of birds in our ears (ok, it was more like cawing but it WAS sunny, lol). The air was slightly cool...the perfect morning to go to Miette Hotsprings. It was just 17km up the mountain we were staying at the bottom of. There was almost nobody there when we arrived which was great! The hotsprings was heavenly! And the view was stunning-mountain peaks all around us.
After lunch, we went souvenir shopping in town and drove up into the mountains. We walked around Pyramid Lake. We also stopped at Patricia Lake, sight of a sunken prototype aircraft carrier. The military apparently wanted to see if they could make an aircraft carrier out of ice during WW11. The prototype is still there for divers to explore.
Next on our list was Maligne Lake. It was an hour long drive up into the mountains, but a beautiful trip. We stopped at Medicine Lake (which disappears every fall) and a few other look-offs until we reached our destination. We ate supper overlooking a gorgeous mountain top lake...breathtaking!
On our way back down the mountain, we stopped at the canyon again. We didn't see it all the day before. We also saw a black bear munching happily on some small trees, on a hill overlooking the road.
We Ended the evening by going back to Miette for another soak in the springs....it was a Lot more crowded this time! We DID get to see another bighorn sheep though. We sure slept well that night!
