We've been really missing certain things about NS, one of them is Keji. We have spent many a day, paddling the lakes and rivers there. There are no shortage of lakes and rivers here in Alberta either, but we had yet to explore them. So a couple weeks ago, Darryl surprised us (most pleasantly) by renting a canoe for the weekend and buying fishing licenses for him and the kids. (Apparently I wasn't going to want to fish :P, but that is another story). We headed for Moose Lake, after hearing from several people it was a nice spot to start. We had already walked there a few months back and knew it was a beautiful park.
We headed out early in the morning, after picking the girlie up at a sleepover. The weather looked promising, slightly overcast but still nice and warm. We packed some snacks and the fishing rods, and hit the road. We were all excited for different reasons, me because I was getting back out in a canoe, the kids because they are kids, and Darryl because he hasn't had the chance to do a lot of fishing over the years...except when he goes back to Nfld for a visit.
Turns out, the day was perfect. We had about five minutes of sun showers while we were out but that was it. The water was calm, we saw pelicans and loons, osprey and grebes. And the fish were biting! Darryl and the kids had lots of nibbles, and several got away. But they each managed to pull up at least one fish. Northern Pike was the catch of the day :)
A great day, however you looked at it!

Jackson wants to go fishing so bad and we haven't been yet but I think we will go to Keji. Darryl not getting you a fishing licenses sounds like something Jason would do. Men! Haha. Did you eat the fish or just let it go?
