We couldn't leave Jasper though without the kids handing in their Explorer mission books! They had to do 6 activities in their booklets to complete the challenge. In front of everyone in the visitor centre, they had to promise to preserve and protect our National parks. In return, they were given a certificate and Jasper dogtags!
We headed onto the Icefields Parkway. It is supposed to be one of the most scenic drives in the world. It definitely was beautiful :D. We saw a lot of jaw-dropping sights along the way and I took lots of pictures. Our favorite stop was at Athabaska Falls. Even with the hundreds of other tourists :P
We were impressed by the animal bridges over the highway through the park. Apparently over 131 000 animals have crossed over these Texas gates since they opened in 1996! Elk/deer-vehicle collisions are down by 95% and animal-vehicle accidents are down by 80%. Being animal lovers, that is great to know!
We stopped at Lake Louise and Moraine Lake for photos before heading to Canmore for the night. After strong recommendations from friends in Cold Lake, we had supper at the Iron Goat. The food was delicious and we went to our hotel room pleasantly stuffed. The kids were happy to once again have a pool and waterside to play in before heading off to sleep :)
