is past Friday night was Military Appreciation night at the Edmonton Eskimos home game. They were playing the Toronto Argonauts. Darryl got free tickets from work so we were looking forward to it for weeks. This was the fifth game of the season, and they hadn't lost yet. We figured this would be the one where they actually would lose :P But we thought it would probably be fun, no matter what the outcome. Not only was it to be a military appreciation event, but it was also a fundraiser for Valour House. Tickets were sold to help this worthwhile cause. The weather was perfect for the whole evening. There were fireworks and cheerleaders, mascots and footlong hotdogs. The Snowbirds did a flypast twice. We were sitting up so high it felt like we could have touched them, lol. It was VERY exciting! They had little competitions and prizes being handed out during the game. Jason Aldean stopped by for a visit (very cool! but he didn't sing :(...what is up with that:?!) And a few of their friends were there as well. A guy in front of us proposed during half-time.
the Argos gave the Eskies a run for their money! For the entire game, the Argos were leading...by a lot! Eventually the Eskies woke up and remembered they were supposed to be playing football and the scores started to even out. After a touchdown that ended up not being counted, it seemed as if Edmonton's winning streak was over. In the last three minutes though, they somehow managed to get another touchdown, this one did count, and they walked away with a 26-25 victory. And a fifth straight win. Wonder who will be the team to end it for them?! Looking forward to seeing them play Saskatchewan in October, hopefully the weather will be just as great :)

FUN! I love the T-shirts, I remember when we did this in Toronto and got to go to a Leaf's game. Super exciting. I don't really understand the rules of football but it would still be exciting to be there in person.
